Hello and welcome to one of our shoutouts for projects casting around the U.K. As always there’s a mix of opportunities for all ages, abilities, and locations but do remember to check if you fit the bill before applying. Although we make every attempt to verify castings before we hit publish, please ensure that you do your own research before firing off those headshots and Backstage links.

“Canvey Island”

Award-winning actor-writer-director Isla Ure is casting her new film “Canvey Island.” The story follows a runaway single mother and her daughter who discover Canvey Island might not be as safe as they thought. The short has an award-winning crew and will be shot on location in Essex this summer.

The team is casting two supporting roles:

Cockney Lad is a male, aged 24–32, and “the name of the character says it all.” He’s slimy but thinks he’s God’s gift. You’ll need a slim or medium build and a genuine or confident Essex accent. All ethnicities are welcome.

Danny is a male, aged 30–40, he’s good looking but “not necessarily conventional.” Again, a genuine or perfect confident Essex accent and all ethnicities are welcome.

Shoot dates are still TBC but the roles pay £80 for half day filming, plus travel and meals.
