Hello and welcome to one of our shoutouts for projects casting around the U.K. As always there’s a mix of opportunities for all ages, abilities, and locations but do remember to check if you fit the bill before applying. Although we make every attempt to verify castings before we hit publish, please ensure that you do your own research before firing off those headshots and Backstage links.

“Hangman” is a dark comedy pilot from Caroline Pires, a director who has worked as a visual effects artist and supervisor on Hollywood productions for more than nine years. The script has been co-written by Karl French.

The story follows the lead character of Rutherford, a failed doctor who runs an elaborate “suicide clinic” deep in the English countryside where he allows customers to undergo assisted suicide by whatever means they wish. These means are often elaborate and silly. A male actor, aged 40–60, is wanted to play the erratic alcoholic Doctor Rutherford. Men and women of all ages are sought for supporting roles for men and women, aged 18 and older, including a “Socrates lookalike.”

The film will shoot in early December in Childs Ercall, Shropshire, U.K. There is no pay, but the company promises a quick turnaround to use footage for showreels and promotion shortly after shooting. Applications close Nov. 30. Click here for the full cast breakdown and to apply.
