U.K. Now Casting: Tour in ‘Oedipus’ and ‘Antigone’ + 3 More Gigs

In today’s roundup, act in the classics this season and tour the U.K. in “Oedipus” and “Antigone” with Beyond the Horizon Theatre Company! There are also roles available in a crossover period drama, a collaborative musical, and a hyper-realistic drama.


Following its critically-acclaimed 2017 tour of “Richard III,” Beyond the Horizon Theatre Company is seeking actors for its upcoming touring productions of Sophocles’ “Oedipus” and “Antigone.” Male and female talent aged 18 and older are needed for all roles in the productions. “The Chairman,” a feature film from the creators of “Ask the Cheat,” is looking to cast local actors for the crossover period drama set in the Middle Ages that juxtaposes two parallel and interconnecting stories. A male actor aged 29–39 is needed to play the lead role of Tim, a sedan chair carrier for the Princess who is “wrongfully accused of a crime that he didn’t commit and must face the consequences.” A female actor, 20–35, is needed to play the dual Princess/Mob Boss’ Daughter role, and a male actor ages 50–60 is needed to play the Baron/Mob Boss role, both leads. There are also several supporting roles available for male and female talent aged 20–60, including assassins/bodyguards, food tasters, and ladies in waiting. The film will begin rehearsal and shooting in Leeds, with dates TBC. Pay will be above minimum wage. Apply here!


Casting is underway for an exciting collaborative adaptation of the musical “Children of Lir.” Male and female talent aged 18 and older are sought for actors and musicians in the production. All talent must be physically trained. There is an open casting call on July 26 in Dublin, Ireland. Performances tour the Dublin area, dates TBD. Some pay will be provided. Apply here!


A no-budget, hyper-realistic dramatic feature film is looking for BAME talent for its lead role. A male actor ages 20–26 with strong improvisation skills is sought to play a recent graduate who “moves back home and struggles to find his place” in the digital age. The production shoots eight days in September in Manchester, England. Pay is £100 per day. Apply here!
