Wondering what’s on the development table this week? We’ve got word that Warner Bros. is rebooting the ‘90s classic, “Under Siege”, which originally starred Steven Seagal and Tommy Lee Jones. Find out what else we know through the grapevine below!
“Under Siege” is coming back!
Warner Bros. is taking back control of its ship. First reported by Deadline, the hit ‘90s action movie “Under Siege” is next up for a reboot at Warner Bros. The studio has teamed up with director Timo Tjahjanto (“The Night Comes for Us,” “May the Devil Take You”) and writer Umair Aleem (“Kate”) to develop the project. The original 1992 feature starred Steven Seagal as Casey Rybeck, “an ex-Navy Seal-turned-cook [who] is the only person who can stop a group of terrorists when they seize control of a U.S. battleship.” The success of the first film lead to a sequel, “Under Siege 2: Dark Territory,” in 1995, and it’s unclear how the new film will play off of that and if any of the cast from either film (including Seagal) will return. Plans are in place to stream the finished work on HBO Max should it make it that far.
