The cast of “American Psycho” visited Stephen Colbert’s late night studio on April 2, ahead of their April 21 opening at the Schoenfeld Theatre. Previews began March 24.

Starring Benjamin Walker as Patrick Bateman, Alice Ripley, Heléne Yorke, Drew Moerlein, and others, the production features music and lyrics from Duncan Sheik (“Spring Awakening”) with the book written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Rupert Goold directs the West End transfer that received raves before heading over the pond.

“There are a lot of serious ideas within this book that I wanted to make sure our show is exploring,” Sheik told Backstage about the show in March. “That’s why I was really excited to have Rupert come on as the director.... I knew he would respect the fact that this wasn’t an exercise in camp but something that could be funny, entertaining, and incredibly thought-provoking that also delves into the psychology of these people and this world in a way that would make people think while watching theater.”

Select members of the Broadway cast performed “Selling Out” on “The Late Show,” showcasing some of the show’s lighting design and of course, Patrick Bateman’s signature narcissism.
