After immortalizing the 1970s with Matthew McConaughey and co., Oscar-nominated writer-director Richard Linklater (“Boyhood”) is back 20 years later to give the ’80s his “Dazed and Confused” treatment. The first trailer for “Everybody Wants Some,” which Linklater has called a “spiritual sequel” to “Dazed,” dropped yesterday and promises to be a riotous good time.
Blake Jenner (“Glee”) stars as Jake, a college freshman and rookie to the baseball team. By the looks of it, he reliably has some coming-of-age misadventures while finding his place on the team, at the school, and in the world—not the least of which involve tight pants, young love, and rock ’n’ roll.
What we’re most interested to see is which of these stars—and how many of these stars—will go on to be household names. Just like the “Dazed and Confused” before it, Linklater’s “Everybody Wants Some” may prove to be an incubator of young talent. Actors you don't know in this trailer today may be the stars of tomorrow!
"Everybody Wants Some" hits theaters everywhere in April 2016. Watch the trailer below.
