Tom Hardy turns to television in the first trailer for his new FX miniseries “Taboo.”

The Oscar nominee stars as adventurer James Keziah Delaney, who returns to 19th century London after 10 years in Africa to inherit the remains of his father’s shipping empire. Delaney combats the East India Company in business, while simultaneously trying to ensure his own mortal survival against his London enemies.

“I am a very dangerous man to know,” Hardy says cryptically in the trailer.

Hardy not only stars in “Taboo,” but the actor is also a credited producer and writer on the project.

This miniseries comes on the heels of a successful 2015 for Hardy after garnering acclaim for his performances in “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Legend,” and “The Revenant,” for which the actor earned his first Oscar nomination.

Oscar nominee Ridley Scott (“The Martian”) is also a producer on the series.

“Game of Thrones” actors Oona Chaplin and Jonathan Price, David Hayman (“The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”), and Michael Kelly (“House of Cards”) round out the ensemble.

The “Taboo” release date is yet to be announced, but the series will premiere in 2016 on FX.
