She’s creepy, she’s kooky, and she’s finally back on our screens! It’s back-to-school season, and Netflix has reopened the doors at Nevermore Academy for Season 2 of “Wednesday,” starring Jenna Ortega, dropping the final four episodes of its sophomore season on Sept. 3. If you’re looking forward to the new school year, we’ve rounded up some of the best coming-of-age, horror, and comedy projects casting talent today!

“I Wish You Could See Inside My Head”

Casting is underway for “I Wish You Could See Inside My Head,” a surreal, fragmented dark comedy-drama about a woman navigating generational trauma as she grows up. Tri-State area actors, aged 7–90, are wanted for several roles in the film, including the protagonist, Lou, as both a young girl and an adult woman. Filming will take place in Vermont and its surrounding states, with dates TBD. Pay is $100–$200 per day with travel and meals provided.

“Captive”

Lead the cast of “Captive,” a horror feature film about a girl who wakes up trapped in a dark room filled with the torments of spiritual and psychological terror. A young female actor, aged 14–21, is wanted to play the starring role of 16-year-old Grace. Filming will take place in Summer 2026 in Tampa, Florida. Pay is $125 per day for a planned three-day work period.

“Devilish”

Devilish,” an upcoming horror-romance thriller film, is now seeking two white actors, aged 18–25, to play the young leads. Filming will take place in September and October 2026 in Louisville, Kentucky. Pay is $200–$300 per day for a planned 16 days of work with all travel, meals, and lodging provided.

“Murmur”

Join the cast of “Murmur,” a low-budget horror film set in a secluded forest cabin where a grieving family of renowned classical musicians confronts the haunting aftermath of their patriarch’s death— and the monstrous entity he left behind. Los Angeles-based actors, aged 7–53, are wanted for the lead roles in the film, which will rehearse this month and shoot on Oct. 23–Nov. 6 in L.A. and Idyllwild. Pay is $1,500–$3,000 with Idyllwild expenses provided.

“We Meet Again”

Casting is underway for “We Meet Again,” a genre-bending, coming-of-age fantasy proof-of-concept for a TV series. New York City-based actors, aged 16–60, are wanted for several lead and supporting roles, including the protagonist Aera, a high school junior whose life is upended when she awakens the defiant spirit of her past incarnation, Korea’s last queen. Multiple roles require the ability to speak Korean. Filming will take place on Nov. 8–9 in NYC or New Jersey and Dec. 6–7 in NYC. Pay is $450.

“Bleach Burns”

Join the cast of “Bleach Burns,” a high school coming-of-age/psychological drama graduate thesis film about a teenage girl obsessed with looking perfect who, after meeting a punk, blue-haired outsider, starts to lose control when her bleached hair develops a mind of its own. Actors, aged 15 and older, are wanted for various roles, including the starring role of Kelly. Filming is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 23 in Miami, Florida. Pay is $100–$150 for lead and supporting roles. Background roles are unpaid. Lodging and travel will be provided for out-of-town talent, and meals will be included for all.

“The Old Woman”

Casting is underway for “The Old Woman,” an absurdist dark comedy depicting an encounter of a writer with an old woman who sometimes is alive, sometimes dead, and sometimes, living dead. Three West Coast actors, aged 25 or older, are wanted for a trio of roles in the film, including the lead role of Daniil and the titular old woman. Rehearsals will take place in Santa Clarita, followed by filming in Los Angeles. Pay is $50–$400 for up to four days of work with meals and crafty on set.

“The Sphinx”

Breaking Fate Entertainment and Migliore Films are now seeking talent for “The Sphinx,” an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s short story that will be included in a larger anthology named “Evermore, Tales from the Mind of Poe.” Two male actors, aged 30–48, are wanted to play the lead roles of Matthew and Ronald. Filming will take place on Dec. 13–14 in Northern Illinois. This is an unpaid gig with credit, craft services, and premiere access.

“The Seer and the Sword”

Casting is underway for “The Seer and the Sword,” a Gothic horror/dark fantasy feature film. Nationwide talent, aged 5–85, is wanted for various roles, including the co-lead, The Oracle. Filming will take place over 18 days in December in Kentucky. Pay is $125–$3,000, depending on the role, for up to six days of filming. Pay is negotiable. Food/catering/craft services, travel, and lodging will be provided.

Frankenstein-Inspired Web Series

Casting is underway for a YouTube web series inspired by Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation of “Frankenstein.” Voice actors, aged 12–50, are wanted for four roles in the project, which will record remotely. Pay is $100–$250.

“For the Love of Fashion”

Join the cast of “For the Love of Fashion,” a heartfelt coming-of-age romance feature following gifted fashion student Breana, who secretly designs clothes for her struggling roommate and others while hiding her own privileged background. Actors, aged 22–35, are wanted for supporting and day player roles, including Rae, Breana’s roommate and best friend. The actor playing Rae must also be able to sing and play guitar. Filming is scheduled for the week of Dec. 14 in Killeen, Texas. Pay is $165–$1,500 for up to five days of work.

“La Mordida”

Sonder Pictures is now casting talent for “La Mordida,”  a surreal coming-of-age ghost story following the trials of an eldest daughter. Actors, aged 6–90, are wanted for various roles, including the lead role of Mari, who, after a freak accident on her 13th birthday party, gains the ability to speak with the dead, including her late grandfather, who claims he hid cash throughout the house. Multiple roles, including leads, require the ability to understand and/or speak Spanish. Rehearsals will begin in early November, followed by filming in mid-to-late November near Los Angeles. Pay is $100–$150 per day for up to five days of work with meals, copy, and credit provided.

Feature Film For A-List Director

Violette Trotter Casting is seeking talent for a coming-of-age music drama feature from an award-winning director and the producer of A24’s Oscar-winning “The Brutalist,” which follows a teenage dropout and his ambitious younger brother as they form a band in their final years of high school. A young male actor who is blind or has low vision, aged 14–25, is currently wanted to play the starring role of Eli. Previous acting experience is not required. Music skills are a plus, but not required. Talent will work in Upstate New York with dates TBD. Pay is $1,246 per day for a planned 30 days of work with housing and transportation provided.

“Eating The Ocean”

Violette Trotter Casting is also seeking talent for “Eating The Ocean,” a coming-of-age dramatic feature film from director Max Tullio and producers Berkshire Entertainment and Galt Niederhoffer. A white male actor, age 18–24, is wanted to play the starring role of Isaac. Production is specifically seeking queer, plus-sized talent for the role. Bad Taste Video has begun searching for talent for “Uncanny Valley High,” a surreal, genre-bending horror film set inside the rigid tribalism of a 1980s high school. Two actors, aged 15–18, are wanted for the lead roles of Robbie and Sarah. Talent will work in the Toronto area in Spring 2026. “The Taken”

Overclocked Entertainment is now casting “The Taken,” a short horror film that blends psychological suspense with supernatural terror, following Josephine, a young girl who begins seeing a shadowy figure in her family’s new home. White U.S.-based actors, aged 13–40, are wanted for lead roles in the film, including Josephine. Rehearsals and filming will take place in the first quarter of 2026 in Dallas, Texas. Pay is $200–$500.

“Rory’s Guide to Falling in Love with a Superhero”

Join “Rory’s Guide to Falling in Love with a Superhero,” a 10-minute queer coming-of-age mini-pilot/proof-of-concept following Rory, who is saved by a mysterious vigilante who seems strangely familiar. Actors, aged 15–19, are wanted for the lead roles of Rory and Alex, as well as a supporting role. Some stunt work will be required for the role of Alex. Rehearsals will take place this fall in Orange, California, and via Zoom, with filming to follow over three days in mid-to-late January in L.A. and Orange County. Pay is $100 per day, including meals and craft supplies provided.
