In case you didn’t get your fill of Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek’s zany relationship on “30 Rock,” the charismatic characters will be getting tipsy together in “Drunk Parents.” Noting the self-explanatory title, the film will find two empty nesters drinking their cares away after their daughter goes off to college; hilarity and bad decisions ensue. Allison Estrin and Henry Russell Bergstein are the designated casting directors for the feature. Fred Wolf will direct the New York–based production that’s looking to kick off in mid-January.

Bryan Cranston is tackling Nathaniel Hawthorne in his next big-screen venture, “Wakefield.” The film, based on Hawthorne’s short story of the same name, follows a man who suddenly leaves his wife and disappears in an effort to detach from his life. No word on whether any of the film’s original cast will reprise their roles. The orphaned Baudelaire children will hit Vancouver, B.C., for a predicted March shoot. Ronna Kress will handle casting on the project that looks to pick up a series order on the streaming service.

Sarah Finn is taking a break from casting superheroes to find the first of mankind for Columbia Pictures; the studio is throwing “The Solutrean” into development. Kodi Smit-McPhee is the only name currently signed on to the ice age story. The film will center on a young caveman and his wolf-dog companion as they brave the harsh climate to find their way back home after a hunting expedition goes wrong.
