Is it ever too early to get ready for a big awards show? Don’t be silly—of course not!

Although the Television Academy won’t present its 69th annual Emmy Awards until September, contenders for the small screen’s biggest prize have already been promoting their work for months in what has been deemed one of the most exuberant awards campaigns in recent memory. The 2017 Emmys’ eligibility period was June 1, 2016–May 31, 2017, meaning network, cable, and streaming series whose episodes fell within that time frame are eligible for nominations. Decided upon by over 20,000 Television Academy voting members within 28 different industry peer groups, the Emmys span drama, comedy, miniseries, TV movies, and more, recognizing programs, individual achievements, and performers.

As you can see from the handy calendar below, voters have just recently finished casting their nomination-round votes via online balloting. What is known colloquially as Phase II, or final-round voting, runs for two weeks in August. The winners of the 2017 Creative Arts Emmys will accept their trophies Sept. 9–10, while Primetime Emmys—in the 26 categories listed below—will be announced live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater in a ceremony hosted by Stephen Colbert.

Stay tuned for further updates in Backstage’s awards coverage. While you’re at it, check out the winners of this year’s Daytime Emmy and College Television Awards. Happy summer, aka TV awards season!
