Nets Basketball is casting an all-new dance team to perform at Brooklyn Nets home games during the 2012-13 NBA season. The Nets will be moving from New Jersey to their new home at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn before the season begins, and a fresh crop of Nets Dancers will join the team at the still-under-construction sports and entertainment venue.

Directors Petra Pope, Kimberlee Garris, and Adar Wellington are seeking females with at least eight years of technical dance training to form the new squad of 16 dancers. Tumbling skills are a plus, but not required. All dancers must be at least 18 years old to audition, and must be able to make commitment to the team from July 2012 through May 2013. In addition to performing during home basketball games, dancers will also represent the Brooklyn Nets at events throughout the New York metropolitan area as well as abroad, on television, and in print media.

Auditions will be held Saturday, June 2 on the Long Island University Brooklyn Campus in Brooklyn, NY. Select dancers will be invited to attend callbacks on Sunday, June 3; finalists must be available the evenings of June 5-7.

Nets Basketball will also be hosting Nets Dancers "Brooklyn Intensive" audition prep classes at Crunch Fitness in Fort Greene, Brooklyn from April 26-May 31. Classes will be held every Thursday from 8:15-10:15 p.m. Dancers will learn first-round audition choreography and a different Nets Dancer routine at each session, and will also receive audition tips from the coaches and team captains. Classes cost $35 per session (or $30 per session with the purchase of three or more). Those who purchase all six sessions will receive an automatic pass through to the first round of auditions.
