The NBC series "Grimm," which is set in and around Portland, Ore., and also shoots on location in the area, began production on its second season May 30. Casting directors are currently hiring local talent to fill the background in the show's next 22 episodes.

Starring David Giuntoli, Russell Hornsby, Bitsie Tulloch, and Silas Weir Mitchell, "Grimm" is a cop drama infused with fantasy elements and characters from the classic fairy tales by the brothers Grimm.

Portland-based casting company Extras Only and casting director Sally Gates are seeking male and female extras of all ethnicities and types, ages 18 or older, for the series. Production is expected to continue throughout the summer.

Auditions will be held by appointment only on an ongoing basis at the Extras Only casting office in Portland. For more information, and to schedule an appointment or register with Extras Only, view the full casting notice at (Subscription required.)

Gates has also cast extras for films including "Extraordinary Measures" and "Twilight," as well as the TNT drama series "Leverage."

At a May 29 celebration to kick off production of the show's second season, Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber showed his support for the growing local film and television industry and said that "Grimm" was the largest production ever filmed in the state. (According to The Oregonian, the Oregon Governor's Office of Film & Television estimates that "Grimm" spent about $50 million in the state during production of its first season in 2011-12. The numbers have not been finalized yet, however.)

New episodes of "Grimm" are scheduled to premiere in August, following NBC's coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
