Now’s your chance to land a role in a new feature film is shooting in Los Angeles. “Zoo,” helmed by newcomer Sasha Sibley, who has produced and directed four short films, is casting supporting and background roles.

The film follows an actor succumbing to despair as he struggles to survive in Los Angeles. Simultaneously, he is haunted by a recurring dream where he is trapped in an inescapable house.

Three roles are being cast for male talent to play supporting or day-player roles. Jerry Thomas is a role for a caucasian male actor, aged 27–40. The character is a Phoenix resident, a disillusioned former child star now working as a cynical movie marketer, both talkative and intelligent. The Producer is a role for a male actor, aged 38–60. The character lives comfortably in a mansion in Los Angeles, secure in his early success producing Hollywood films. Although direct, the Producer is friendly and enjoys giving others their big break. Nick is a role for a caucasian male actor, aged 20–23, an arrogant college student, who’s a “frat guy” type.

Three roles are also being cast for women to play supporting or day-player roles. The Clerk is a role for a female actor of color, aged 20–27, working at a print shop. The production is looking for someone Latinx, Asian, Native American, Middle Eastern, or ethnically ambiguous and not necessarily conventionally attractive. The Employee is a role for African American female talent, aged 21–28. She’s a no-nonsense worker who confronts the main character at a department store over a returned suit. There is also a voiceover opportunity for Mom, to be played by a caucasian female actor, aged 50–60. This is a voice-only role that will be a character on one side of a phone conversation. A background role for a nurse is also available for female talent, aged 18–40. Candidates must already have a nurse costume.

Rehearsals will take place in early May, for a shoot that will be from May 14–31 in Los Angeles. The production is seeking talent local to the Los Angeles area. Details regarding compensation are still in development.
