Now Casting: Play a Principal Role in a Summer Stock Production of ‘West Side Story’ + 3 More Gigs

Something’s coming—something good—at the Shenandoah Summer Music Theater. The company’s summer stock production of “West Side Story” is now casting its Tony, Riff, Anita, and Bernardo. Plus, a short film about a series of nightmare sequences is looking for leads and background for its individual sequences, a production of “Big Fish” needs talent in Anaheim, and an actor is wanted to play a young pregnant woman doing her best to survive. 

“WEST SIDE STORY” 
Join the principal cast of Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre’s production of “West Side Story.” Male and female talent, aged 18–30, is wanted to play the lead roles of Tony, Riff, Anita, and Bernardo. Rehearsals will begin June 21 with performances July 5–15 at the Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre in Winchester, Virginia. Equity members will be hired under the Equity Guest Artist Agreement and non-Equity artists will be paid $1,500. All actors will be provided with housing. Apply here!

“THE NIGHTMARES OF MY DREAMS” 
Casting is currently underway for “The Nightmares Of My Dreams,” a short film about a series of nightmare sequences that focus on several common recurring nightmares. Talent, aged 20–55, is sought to play an interviewee in one of the nightmare sequences. Preference will be given to non-binary persons. There is an additional lead role for a female actor, aged 18–30, as well as a second female actor, aged 23–37. Additionally, talent, aged 18–23, is needed to portray classmates as background. Rehearsal dates are flexible depending on talent availability, and the film will shoot in late April or early May in New York City. Background is unpaid and all other roles will be paid $100 per shoot day. Apply here! 

“WHAT’S LIFE” 
“What’s Life,” a short film about a young woman pregnant with twins who must survive in the face of bad news, is casting its lead talent. A female actor, aged 18–26, is wanted to play the lead role of Vanessa. There are also supporting roles for talent, aged 18–50, as well as for twins, aged 0–2. The film will shoot on March 24–25 in NYC. Meals and a small per diem will be provided. Apply here! 

“BIG FISH” 
The Chance Theater is now casting its upcoming production of “Big Fish,” a musical adapted from the Daniel Wallace novel and Tim Burton film. Male talent, aged 30–59, is wanted to play the lead roles of Edward and Will Bloom. There are also roles for supporting and ensemble talent, aged 9–55. There will be an open casting call in Anaheim, California, on March 27 and 29. Rehearsals begin May 15 and the show will run June 29–July 29. Pay is $250–$725 for the total production. Apply here!
