NYC Now Casting: NYTW Is Filling Principal Roles In the Play ‘The House That Will Not Stand’ + 2 More Gigs

In today’s casting roundup, New York Theatre Workshop is now casting principal roles in the upcoming production of “The House That Will Not Stand,” a play by Marcus Gardley. There are also roles available in a student short film about a young chemist grappling with her past and a video parody of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

“THE HOUSE THAT WILL NOT STAND” 
New York Theatre Workshop is currently casting “The House That Will Not Stand,” a play by Marcus Gardley. A female actor, aged 50–69, is sought to play Beartrice Albans, a free woman of color and queen of her household. Talent, aged 18 and older, is wanted for several additional roles in the production, including Beartrice’s three daughters and Makeda, a slave who works in their house. There will be an open casting call on Feb. 27 in New York City. Rehearsals will begin June 12, and the production will run July 11–Aug. 26. Pay is $690 per week through July 31 and $784 per week for the rest of the run. Apply here! 

“THE CHEMIST” 
Join “The Chemist,” a student film in which Alice Bell, in the midst of dealing with the death of her lover is pulled into a criminal operation revolving a new drug making itself known in the streets of Brooklyn, New York. A female actor, aged 19–30, is wanted to play the lead role of Alice. There are also roles available for male talent, aged 18–35. “The Chemist” will shoot April 27–May 3 in NYC. Pay is TBD. “20 SIDES OF RYE” 
Casting is underway for “20 Sides of Rye,” a short video spoof on “Fifty Shades of Grey.” A male actor, aged 25–35, is sought to play the lead role of Tristan Rye, the Christian Grey-esque lead. A female actor, aged 18–25, is also sought to play the lead role of Sylvia. The video will shoot March 3–4 in NYC and Princeton, New Jersey. Pay is $100. Apply here!
