Dramatic Arts Graduates 64

Actors Lynn Redgrave and Laurence Luckenbill saluted the 64 graduates of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts during a commencement held Thurs., April 25, at Broadway's Majestic Theatre.

Introduced by John Tillinger, Redgrave recalled the techniques she learned from great actors: Ruth Gordon's preparation, Maggie Smith's timing, and Rex Harrison's anticipation to avoid an audience member coughing on your laugh line. Noel Coward, she said, encouraged experimentation and "watered us like seeds."

Luckenbill, currently appearing at Lincoln Center in "A Fair Country," prompted the young actors to "go out and start auditioning for the three jobs that are out there."

He advised that, when going to Hollywood, "be sure to buy a round-trip ticket and have your parents make it first-class. It's always better to come back from Hollywood firs
