NYC's 'Taxi Star' Contest Ends Today
New York City is launching a new television channel to broadcast inside taxicabs, and you could be its first star. The channel—announced today by Katherine Oliver, commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment, and New York City Taxi & Limousine commissioner David Yassky—will focus on entertainment, events, and public service announcements.

In a contest called "Next Taxi Star," the city is looking for someone to appear in an introductory video that will play at the beginning of every cab ride. Applicants must be 18 years old and legal residents of New York City. To be considered, submit a 30-second video describing your favorite thing about the city to You can also mail a hard copy to NYC Media, 1 Centre St., 27th floor, New York, NY 10007 or drop it off at the same location.

The contest has been accepting submissions since Oct. 25, and the last day to submit a video is Tuesday, Nov. 1.
