With the opening last week of Take One Film & Theatre Books, at 11516 Santa Monica Blvd. in West L.A., L.A.-area actors and showbiz types—particularly those on the Westside or otherwise situated closer to the 405 than the 101—have a clean, well-lighted place to find audition monologues, agents guides, craft books, and, of course, the latest copy of Back Stage West. Tim Morell, former buyer for Samuel French and Skylight Books, opened the doors last week; hours are noon-8 p.m., Monday-Saturday; noon-4 p.m., Sunday.
