Johnny Depp is known for his transformative performances, from his swashbuckling pirate Jack Sparrow to his chilling Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulger.
Now, Depp is equal parts hilarious and terrifying as business mogul and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in a new 50-minute movie biopic from Funny Or Die.
“Funny Or Die Presents Donald Trump’s The Art Of The Deal: The Movie” is a fictional television movie based on Trump’s best-selling autobiography of the same name. Director Ron Howard introduces the film he “picked up at a yard sale just outside Phoenix, Arizona,” which was originally “thought to be lost in the Cybil Shepherd blouse fire of 1989.”
Between the cheesy, techno music and over-the-top graphics, the satire is a relic straight out of the 1980s. The movie riotously depicts Trump’s quest to acquire the Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City from Merv Griffin (Patton Oswalt).
The movie is littered with cameos, including one from Henry Winkler as former New York City mayor Ed Koch, and Michaela Watkins as Trump’s first wife Ivana.
However, the film wouldn’t properly reflect the time period without a cameo from Alf.
“You are the only illegal alien I truly love,” Trump says to the former extraterrestrial sitcom star, following the alien’s speech at his and Ivana’s wedding reception.
Funny Or Die assembled an impressive all-star cast to round out the ensemble including Alfred Molina, Robert Morse, Jack McBrayer, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Lloyd, Kristen Schaal, Andy Richter, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Tymberlee Hill, Jordan Coleman, Joe Nuñez, Jeremy Konner, and even “Room” star Jacob Tremblay.
