What’s Happening in Dance in NYC this Week 9/4–9/10 2017

Summer is coming to an end and auditions are sweeping in for the fall season. We have gathered a variety of new classes for you to try, performances to be inspired by, and auditions to put on your calendar. Enjoy your dance filled week! 

Performances:
The theater at New York Live Arts presents Ariel Rivka Dance for four days of emotionally stirring modern dance. Tickets and more information can be found here

American Dance Guild’s 60th Anniversary Performance Festival "Celebrating Diversity" will take place Sept. 7–10. Companies performing include Nai-Ni Chen, Molissa Fenley, Tina Croll, Mary Seidman, Kaoru Ikeda, among many more. Grab your tickets here!

Dixon Place presents “Terrifying Times Call for Terrifying Jewelry,” a jewelry show and dance performance mash up by Laurie Berg. Tickets and more info here.

Auditions:
Arch Ballet is seeking new faces to join their company. Auditions are invitation only, so be sure to review submission requirements and apply ASAP. 

Mook Dance Company is looking for classically trained dancers for spring performances.The audition will take place Sept. 10 at the Center for Performance Research from 1–3 pm. More information here for pre-registration requirements.

Choreographic Opportunities:
Sans Limites Dance is hosting a formal production season at the Hudson Guild Theater in Chelsea. They are seeking new works, so if you are an emerging choreographer looking to present a new piece, please apply here by Sept. 15th. 

Events:
Mark your calendars to attend The Table of Silence Project on Sept. 11 at Lincoln Center. Choreographed and conceived by Jacqulyn Buglisi, this multicultural performance ritual for peace and healing is performed by over 100 dancers, a beautiful scene that you will not want to miss.

Classes and workshops:
Do you like to salsa? BAILA Society is starting a 10-week training series that will culminate in a performance at Peridance Capezio Center’s Blackbox Theater. The first class will take place on Sept. 8. More information here!

Shen Wei Dance Arts will be holding a workshop Sept. 4–8 at Peridance Capezio Center. More details and registration here.
