Kevin Michael Murphy (He/Him/They/Them) is a Manhattan-based voice teacher and the co-Founder of the NYC Vocal Studio. Murphy's students regularly appear in Broadway shows, national tours, on TV competitions like American Idol, and in cabaret and concert venues all over the world. Kevin spent a decade on the voice faculty of NYU Steinhardt teaching both Undergraduate and Graduate musical theater majors.
Murphy helps performers find vocal and expressive freedom, through the exploration of connections between the brain, the body, and the artistic self. This holistic approach incorporates elements of performance psychology, cognitive science, movement modalities (Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, etc), and more.
Kevin believes in the importance of artists having autonomy over the sounds they make and loves working with curious and playful performers of all levels. Private lessons online and in person, and "Embodied Belting" a group workshop designed to help singers unlock a more dynamic Belt.
