Dance, Musical Theater, Theater Acting, Theater

"Students in the program observe, illuminate, and communicate fundamental truths of the human experience through theatrical arts. The program puts equal emphasis on active classroom study and experiential skill development in department productions. Each serves to support the other. The educational goals of the theater program include a knowledge of theater background that explores the evolution of theatrical art from ancient to modern times through text, physical production, and live performance. Students become innovators in today’s theater by being curious about the past. One cannot exist without the other. An additional goal of the program is to learn from production. The skills learned in production can be applied to any industry. Developing excellent communication and presentation skills and gaining the ability to make creative work on tight deadlines, while learning to balance team objectives with personal responsibility. Students explore the balance of artistic vision with practical necessity for all component fields within theatre.
