CINANIMA - International Animated Film Festival of Espinho, Portugal, was founded in 1976 and is held every year in the city of Espinho, a small seaside city near Porto. CINANIMA is an Oscar qualifying festival and has the international recognition of ASIFA - Association Internationale du Film D'Animation. Focused on screening the best of animation from all over the world, either in competition or in the International Grand Panorama, and retrospectives. Masterclasses and workshops focusing on expanded animation, virtual reality, and immersive films are also organised.
Categories include short films, students films, feature films, national competition, and many special programmes, retrospectives, curatorships, and screenings for families, children and schools.
