Over the years, our mission has expanded to include contemporary work on American themes. East Lynne is a bridge: Between the past and the present. By presenting stories from the past, East Lynne creates a better understanding of the present. Between Cape May’s residents and visitors. East Lynne attracts and welcomes visitors to culturally vibrant, and historic Cape May, New Jersey. Between artists and the community. By bringing theater artists of the highest caliber from elsewhere together with local artists and audiences, East Lynne provides a unique, compelling theatrical experience. Between diverse audience members, seniors and students. As future steward of the former Allen AME Church, East Lynne is committed to honoring the Black History of Cape May. Through programming, collaboration, student workshops, and outreach, East Lynne promotes meaningful connections between all people.
