Backstage is delighted to be hosting two panels at this month’s BFI Future Film Festival in London. Taking place in person and online from 17 to 20 Feb., the festival is for aspiring filmmakers aged 16 to 25 who want to learn from people who are already experienced in the film industry.
Whether you’ve shot some footage on a smartphone, already have a couple of short films under your belt, or aspire to a career in screen content, BFI Future Film is the festival for you.
The Backstage panels, both of which are hosted by our own Hannah Marie Williams, comprise one in-person and one online event:
Backstage presents: How to deal with talent agents and build productive working relationships (Saturday 19 Feb., 11:00–12:00, BFI Southbank NFT2)
In this session, we’ll talk with some of the top agents in the UK to discuss how emerging filmmakers should work with them. We’ll also offer top tips on how to build professional relationships with agents and talent. Panellists include Marvin Godfrey, an agent at Revolution Talent; and Abigail Millar, an associate agent at Curtis Brown.
Backstage presents: How to hire cast and crew with disabilities and neurodiversity for your projects (Sunday 20 Feb., 15:00 – 16:00, Zoom)
We will speak with leading industry professionals and campaigners about how you can be better at representing disabled and neurodiverse talent and creatives in your short films. Panellists include Keron Day (actor and filmmaker), Louise Dyson MBE (founder, VisABLE People), and Adam Welsh (founder and senior talent agent, Divergent Talent).
