As the nights draw in and sunshine becomes a distant memory, many Londoners retreat inside. Fair, but there’s no need for your brain to go into hibernation. Kick those little grey cells into action with (most) of this week’s Backstage picks.
Potter down to the British Library.
It’s twenty years since J.K. Rowling first introduced us to the magical world of Harry Potter. To celebrate, the venerable British Library has an exhibition revealing Rowling’s manuscripts as well as rare books and magical objects from the library’s collection. There’s also a Potter-themed quiz on Oct. 20. (Tickets: £16)
Embrace your inner nerd.
On Oct. 17, get yourself a drink and listen to three very clever people talk about three interesting but very clever subjects. Sounds good right!? London Nerd Nite is a chance to learn something new while getting slowly drunk. Perfect! (Tickets: £7.50)
Relive your youth.
We all got dragged to dull and dusty museums against our will as kids. Now you can exorcise the memory by going to the Natural History Museum willingly. The After School Club promises an after-hours museum tour, silent disco, and no homework! (Tickets: £38)
Dance the night away.
Jack Antonoff is busy. Superstar music producer, boyfriend of ‘voice of a generation’ Lena Dunham, and the genius behind pop band Bleachers plays Camden KoKo on Oct. 18. Get booking. (Tickets: £22.50)
