Eurovision
Will Ferrell’s new film based on Eurovision, the long-running and frequently bizarre international competition of musicianship, will see him produce and star in the feature for Netflix. Ferrell has also co-written the screenplay along with regular Saturday Night Live writer Andrew Steele and hired comedy director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) to lead the project.
It has just been confirmed that Ferrell will be attending this year’s Eurovision final in Tel Aviv later this month to shoot footage for the film. It won’t be his first Eurovision: he was spotted in the crowd of last year’s Lisbon final, and he’s been a fan since 1999, introduced to it by his Swedish wife, actor Viveca Paulin.
Casting director Allison Jones is attached stateside, but the film is being shot in the UK so we expect a UK casting director to be announced soon. Watch this space.
