“War of the Worlds”
Canal+ and ACG Television’s adaptation of “War of the Worlds” has been filming around the UK for the past couple months, mainly in Bristol and Cardiff, but has moved onto London now, judging by a recent Instagram shot of star Gabriel Byrne from episode director Gilles Coulier in Battersea in southwest London (as well as one of Byrne and Coulier from production house De Wereldvrede). This is one of at least two current adaptations of the H.G. Wells sci-fi classic, including an Edwardian era-set BBC One series starring Rafe Spall and Eleanor Tomlinson. Co-starring with Byrne in this series is Elizabeth McGovern. The cast also includes Léa Drucker, Natasha Little, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and others. The modern-day reimagining will take place in Europe and follow “the pockets of humanity left on earth following an apocalyptic extra-terrestrial strike.” Laure Cochener is the series casting director.
