“Secret Chamber”
In collaboration with Marlborough Theatre, New Writing South, and Engine Room, “Secret Chamber”, a new theatre adaptation of a short story by Akila Richards, is seeking professional performers for the development phase. The play deals with three women of colour considering an abortion and their interactions at the clinic, with unexpected outcomes.
They are looking for a female performer—a Caribbean/Black British female, playing age of around 40—to take part in rehearsals over two phases, leading to a scratch performance at Marlborough Theatre, Brighton on 6 October this year. The performer must be charismatic with adept stage presence, and an interest and understanding into a women-focused theme from a diverse perspective. Performers should be experienced and also available for all the dates.
Rehearsal and performance:
- September 18, 19, 20, 21
- October 5
- Scratch performance: October 6
Auditions are on Monday 11 September, 10 am—5 pm at the Marlborough Theatre, 4 Princes Street, Brighton, BN2 1RD.
Equity rate for one week’s rehearsal and the scratch performance is paid, plus transport. Please register your interest via email: akilalive@gmail.com and info@marlboroughtheatre.org.uk with the subject heading “SECRET CHAMBER”, your CV, headshots, covering letter, and links. Applications must be made before 5 pm on 4 September.
