This week, star in two short films and one production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and add another line to your CV.
REPRISE
Casting director Hannah Marie Williams is seeking performers for two roles with dialogue in Reprise, a BFI-funded short film directed by Isla Ure. The film follows a character caring for his ex-wife through a debilitating disease and explores love and loss and sheds a light on a rare form of dementia. Female Nurse is for talent, aged 50–60, that is shorter than 5’7”. She’s a curt, overworked and underpaid woman who’s reaching the end of her sympathy with patients that give her abuse. Male Nurse is for talent, aged 20–40, that is unconventionally attractive and taller than 5’8”. He is laid back, kind, and understanding. Reprise shoots in Bristol and performers must be local or have a base there. Shooting takes place for one day in June and roles are paid at £100 per day. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
Nottingham-based Bear Left theatre company are creating a production of Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare’s comedy of love, wordplay, and gossip. The team are casting several leading roles, including Benedick and Claudio, for talent, aged 18–45. Much Ado About Nothing rehearses from July 10–12 and 15–18 in Nottingham and plays July 19 and 20 at the Bonnington Theatre. WORDS
Filmmaker David Amanor-Wilks is creating Words, a short film promoting Newham-based community charity The Renewal Programme and casting performers who want to help make this passion-project a reality. The group work to transform lives through advocacy, support, and education, including providing free English language lessons to migrant women over 60. Words will promote this through a montage of an isolated character to one that comes to feel independent and connected. Roles are available for female talent, aged 29–90. Words shoots at the end of May and start of June in London. All roles are paid at the London Living wage (£10.55 per hour) and refreshments are provided, as well as meals for full days.
