Hello and welcome to one of our shoutouts for projects casting around the UK. As always, there’s a mix of opportunities for all ages, abilities, and locations, but do remember to check if you fit the bill before applying. The Midnight Court and Other Aislings
Student film The Midnight Court and Other Aislings is set on the eve of the 1798 Irish Rebellion. It follows Niamh, a teenage girl caught up in the brewing conflict. As the British Army controls her small town, stopping at nothing to expose those defiant to their rule, Niamh shoulders the responsibility of caring for her family as she seeks to drive the oppressors from the town. Here’s a breakdown of the roles:
Peter Flanagan is for a white male actor with a playing age of 30–50. A British Army captain in charge of the local garrison, he exercises authority through swift and severe punishments.
Rory Dunne is for a white male actor with a playing age of 28–40 and with an Irish accent. The leader of the rebels, he’s gripped by ideas of revolution but trouble has made him cold, embittered and calculating. He looks down on the people of the town.
Eamon is for a white male actor with a playing age of 6–13 and with an Irish accent. Niamh’s younger brother, he’s energetic and compassionate.
The production is also casting for background roles of Towns Folk and Tavern Patrons, male and female, 18 and over.
Two rehearsal days take place for the cast and crew on 24–25 January, with shooting on 26–30 January at Little Woodham living history village in Gosport, Hampshire.
Pay is negotiable but the production is able to cover all expenses, including food, travel and accommodations.
