Hello and welcome to one of our shoutouts for projects casting around the U.K. As always there’s a mix of opportunities for all ages, abilities, and locations but do remember to check if you fit the bill before applying. Although we make every attempt to verify castings before we hit publish, please ensure that you do your own research before firing off those headshots and Backstage links.

“Girl Happy”

Short student film “Girl Happy” follows two friends as their relationship fragments. Cathy puts on a different persona to keep a relationship with a man 20 years older as a way to escape herself, Georgie separates sex and emotions to avoid the rejection she felt when her father left. A betrayal teaches them the consequences of trying to grow up too fast.

The production is looking for their two leads, Cathy and Georgie, but there are roles for male actors in the film as well.

Cathy is 16, takes her cues for womanhood from the classic 40s and 50s films she grew up watching and romanticises being in a relationship with an older man. Female actors, aged 16-25, of all ethnicities are sought.

Georgie is 17, outgoing and not bothered by what people think of her. Her father vanished when she was young and she has a broken relationship with her mother. Women of any ethnicity, aged 18-25, can apply.

The film is seeking male actors to play Ben, another lead, who is 34 years old. He acts a little like James Dean and, naturally, Cathy adores him. Men, aged 20-35, of all ethnicities are wanted for the role.

Two supporting roles, Georgie’s mum, a non-speaking role, and boyfriend Josh are also casting.

Leads are paid £50 a day. Supporting roles are paid £25 a day. The film shoots in Guildford, Surrey, U.K. from the Feb. 12–25, 2018.
