U.K. Greenlit: Julian Fellowes Brings His Next Series to Netflix + More Upcoming Projects

“The English Game”
Big news for Julian Fellowes fans: the “Downton Abbey” creator is writing a high-profile period drama about the emergence of football as a world game. The six-part series is called “The English Game” and will start casting later this year. Netflix’s chief of originals said it will follow the stories of “Etonians and factory workers.” Keep an eye on Jill Trevellick’s audition room, it’s possible Fellowes will return to her after they spent many years working together on “Downton Abbey.”

“Mrs. Wilson”
Period drama “Mrs. Wilson” moves towards shooting this year. The drama is set in London and India, spanning the 1930s–1960s and is based on the lives of the grandparents of actor Ruth Wilson, who will star with Iain Glen, Keeley Hawes, Anupam Kher, and Fiona Shaw. “Mrs. Wilson” is shooting in Belfast, Northern Ireland with casting director Rachel Freck attached.

“Turn Up Charlie”
Netflix’s Idris Elba–led comedy “Turn Up Charlie” is moving towards production, starting in late May. The eight-part series sees Elba play a struggling DJ who becomes a nanny to befriend his hero’s daughter. No casting director has been announced.

“Grantchester”
“Grantchester” is returning for a fourth series and is currently casting. The show, about a crime-fighting clergyman, is filming on location in Cambridge and Grantchester starting in June. Star James Norton has confirmed it will be his last series. KVH casting is attached.
