A team from Mountview’s Catalyst Festival are casting Hausland, a play set in Cape Town where a woman struggles to convince her mother to sell off a house. Written by Ameera Conrad and Alex McCarthy, the project is part of the drama school’s showcase for directors and creative producers. Please note that all of the following lead roles require performing in a South African accent.
Naeela is female, 40–60 and black. She’s proud and refuses to leave her family home. Haniya is female, 20–30, and black. Naeela’s daughter, she was forced to grow up quickly to provide for her family. Daniel is male, 20–30, and black. He’s career-driven but compassionate. Finally, Michael is male, 20–35, and white. He’s headstrong, a perfectionist.

A team at Mountview’s Catalyst Festival are casting Birdwatching, a lyrical play set in Wales where three people set out to save a wildlife reserve from destruction. All of the following lead-role characters require performing in a Welsh accent. Danny is male, 25–30, and any ethnicity. Gentle and self-conscious, he’s eager to please. Nicola is female, 40–45, and any ethnicity. A doctor, she’s kind, pragmatic and reserved. Andy is male, 55–65, and white. He’s a local man who’s “full of love but troubled by the changing world.”

Solo play Block’s Off is casting ahead of a run at Mountview’s Catalyst Festival in London. Multi-Roled Lead is male, 20–35, and black. The actor needs to have physical theatre experience and to be good with accents – a strong multi-role performer who can play a range of characters: a father trying to leave his wayward past behind him, a tutor, a pair of drug dealers, and a Brazilian florist.
