“Bloodlands”
County Down residents were in for quite a surprise last week when a mysterious light in the night sky sparked a UFO alert. However, it turns out, the culprit was Jimmy Nesbitt and the rest of his team at BBC’s new drama “Bloodlands,” which is now filming at Castle Ward. The new thriller has begun production in Northern Ireland and is expected to film in and around Belfast and Strangford Lough. Along with Nesbitt stars Lorcan Cranitch (“Fortitude”), Ian McElhinney (“Derry Girls,” “Game of Thrones”), and Charlene McKenna (“Ripper Street”). Written by Chris Brandon, the new thriller series follows detective Tom Brannick (played by Nesbitt), who is placed on an infamous cold case when a car is pulled from the bottom of Strangford Lough. The series and all its temporarily unidentifiable sights will be overseen by director Pete Travis. Its first episode is due for release in July. Carla Stronge is the series casting director.
