Being a professional dancer takes poise, self-awareness, and a ton of hard work. Good thing you were born with a passion for choreography—be it classical ballet, tap, ballroom, hip-hop, swing, jazz, or modern dance. Here are 15 telltale signs you were born to dance your heart out.

As a kid, you could barely keep still. Those hips never lied.

You’d wear tap shoes or ballet slippers over “normal” footwear any day. (And, of course, sequins and tights.)

You have fever dreams where you’re dancing with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

Whenever you hear the words “FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT,” your heart gives a little jump. Time to start moving!

You’ve seen “Dirty Dancing” more times than you would care to admit.

You may watch competition reality shows like “Dancing With the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance” with a passion...

...But your life basically IS a dance reality show. (It would probably be called “On Pointe!”)

Michael Jackson music videos send chills up your spine. How does he do it?

You wish you had a time machine to go back and work with Alvin Ailey...

...Martha Graham...

...or Bob Fosse on the big Broadway stage.

When you saw the “Evolution of Dance” video, you thought, “I could’ve come up with that.”

Mirrors are your favorite. In the studio, in your bedroom, passing by a shop window...it’s always a new opportunity to practice your latest routine!

Or just to vogue.

Keep lugging that dance bag from class to class: You’re a dancer through and through. Maybe even the next Mikhail Baryshnikov. FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT!
