Deborah Aquila and Tricia Wood will be casting the pilot for "LA Noir," a period drama from Frank Darabont for TNT, Back Stage has confirmed. Darabont ("The Walking Dead") will write and direct the pilot, which shoots in Los Angeles in May.

Based on John Buntin's book "LA Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America's Most Seductive City," the project is about the LAPD's battle with the West Coast Mob in the '40s and '50s, focusing specifically on Police Chief William Parker and his nemesis, mobster Mickey Cohen. "The Walking Dead" star Jon Bernthal is reportedly in talks to play Los Angeles cop Joe Teague, one of the central characters.

Aquila/Wood Casting has also cast the television series "Dexter" and "The Shield," as well as over one hundred feature films including "My Week with Marilyn," "The Expendables," "Valentine's Day," "Twilight," and the upcoming films "R.I.P.D." and "Gone."
