“It is correct when they say that work truly begets work!” insists Backstage reader and actor Ewan Turner.

It certainly held true for two projects he was cast in through Backstage’s casting notices: short film “I Love NY” and student film “Nada.” “Through people I have met and worked with on these projects, I have been cast in other films such as ‘Who’s That Under My Bed?’ ” the actor says.

Turner starred in “I Love NY” as Aden, a kid on his first day in the Big Apple whose misadventures become an ode to the great city. “Nada,” based on Ernest Hemingway’s “A Clean Well-Lighted Place,” had Turner playing Max, a disgruntled waiter who, anxiously awaiting the end of his shift, builds a bond with an older co-worker, played by Wendell Laurent, an actor and friend Turner has shared the screen with several times since.

“Working on ‘Nada,’ as well as ‘I Love NY,’ really cemented my love for the filmmaking process—especially for filmmaking in New York City. I felt an endlessly creative drive that was fueled by the amazingly talented people I was surrounded by. I wouldn’t have been able to have these experiences without my [Backstage] subscription.”
