Want to master your craft under a Backstage Expert? Submission deadlines are fast approaching for the Michelle Danner Acting Studio’s eight available merit-based scholarships. Given to four up-and-comers and four working actors, these $3,500 scholarships are dispersed based on applicants’ “artistic achievements, promise for outstanding talent, and true passion for their craft,” according to a press release.
To apply for available scholarships, prospective actors must prove they can write as well as recite. An essay 350–500 words in length detailing acting accomplishments and justifying need for the scholarship is required by each applicant, as is a one-minute monologue video to showcase his/her best work.
The filed application, recorded monologue, and essay statement must be submitted to info@michelledanner.com with the subject “MDAS Acting Scholarship” between Monday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Dec. 4. Recipients for the annual scholarships will be announced Monday, Dec. 7.
Michelle Danner’s Los Angeles acting school specializes in the techniques of Meisner, Strasberg, Adler, Hagen, Chekhov, and the Stanislavsky Technique. A limited amount of work study scholarships are also available to prospective Michelle Danner students. For more information on available scholarships and Danner (whose résumé includes work with everyone from James Franco to Penélope Cruz), visit www.michelledanner.com.
