Daredevils who didn't qualify to join the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team in London have another chance to showcase their skills this week.
The producers of Spiegelworld –an adult-oriented Cirque du Soleil-style traveling circus that combines circus acts, burlesque, acrobatics, cabaret, and variety performances – have announced casting calls in New York for highly skilled circus and variety acts, "to amp up their current roster of daredevil performers" for all future 2013 and 2014 projects.
Spiegelworld, which was first presented in New York City in the summer of 2006, is set inside a traditional Belgian-style "spiegeltent" that features in-the-round seating. Spiegelworld's "Empire" is currently running in Times Square through Sept. 2, while "Absinthe" is in residence at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. The company has also toured to Miami, Fla., and Melbourne, Australia. Past shows include "La Vie," "Late Night Lounge," and "Desir."
Upcoming performance opportunities include Spiegelworld's domestic and international resident shows, touring productions, and special events.
Auditions will be held by invitation only Thursday, Aug. 16, at Caesar's Spiegeltent in Times Square. For more information and to be considered for an audition appointment, view the full casting notice online at BackStage.com. Note that these auditions are for New York-based talent only. Spiegelworld offers paid contract work.
