Long-time collaborators Jenny O’Haver and James Levine have merged their casting shops to form Action! Casting.
Levine said the partnership was gradually cemented over the last few months, but was on the horizon for some time. “We’ve worked together for about 15 years and finally merged our companies,” Levine told Backstage.
O’Haver said it was only natural the two would form a joint business. “We’ve been sharing jobs on both coasts for many years,” she said. “Whenever any of us had a big job, the other would co-cast. It just seemed like the natural step.”
And with Levine looking to grow the directing side of his résumé, O’Haver said the timing was right. “This helps him expand his directing,” she said.
The new shop is officially bi-coastal with studios in New York and Los Angeles. They just finished a casting project for NBC’s “The Voice” and are moving onto national ad campaigns, including ones for Weight Watchers, Kay Jewelers, and Disney, said Levine. “We’re busy.”
Before the partnership was finalized, O’Haver ran the New York-based O’Haver & Company, which opened in 1995, while Levine worked in Los Angeles at TypeCasting Inc. The new company falls under the banner of Action Content.
