Two big projects are making headlines this week. First, Amanda Seyfried is getting attention as it was announced she is joining Apple’s upcoming series “The Crowded Room.” Along with this news, the musical comedy “F*cking Identical Twins” is officially getting off the ground (and getting a makeover). After changing hands from Disney to A24, it was announced last week that Bowen Yang, Nathan Lane, Meghan Thee Stallion, and more are set to star in the new film. Amanda Seyfried Will Star in Apple’s New Anthology Series.
Apple’s “The Crowded Room” has gotten even more crowded. Last week, Deadline announced that Amanda Seyfried had been tapped to star opposite of Tom Holland in the upcoming Apple anthology series. Seyfried will play Rya, “a clinical psychologist faced with the most challenging case of her career [who] cannot help but put her patients first, all the while trying to balance her life as a single mother.” Written by Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind”), the series will dive into “inspirational stories of those who have struggled with mental illness and learned to live successfully with it.” According to Deadline, the first season will consist of 10 episodes and is based in part on both Goldsman’s own life as well as Daniel Keyes’ biography “The Minds of Billy Milligan.” Kornel Mundruczo (“Pieces of a Woman”) will direct and executive produce the whole of the first season. Apple Studios and New Regency. Goldsman will co-produce.
“F*cking Identical Twins” Gets the Green Light.
It’s a pairing that goes better together than even Oreos and peanut butter: A24 has given the okay to the R-rated musical comedy “F*cking Identical Twins,” per Variety. The story will reportedly put “a subversive spin” on the hit comedy “The Parent Trap,” with comedians Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp adapting the film from their two-man stage show of the same name. The duo will star as “two business adversaries who realize they’re identical twin brothers. [and] decide to switch places in order to reunite their divorced parents and become a family again.” The project has been in the works for a while, initially starting at 20th Century Fox before it was acquired by Disney. Now that it is seemingly back off the ground, Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, Bowen Yang, and Megan Thee Stallion have also joined the cast, as announced last week. Larry Charles (“Borat”) will direct. “F*cking Identical Twins” is currently in production.
