There are a whopping 57 credits on Cameron Diaz’s IMDb page, but the list spanning a 20-year career came to a screeching halt in 2014, when Diaz quit acting for good.

On a recent episode of comedian Kevin Hart’s new Peacock show “Hart to Heart,” Diaz revealed how stepping away from the spotlight allowed her to focus her attention on other aspects of her life. She said these were previously “handed off to other people,” and when she turned 40, she realized that there were “so many parts of my life...that I wasn’t touching and that I wasn’t managing.”

Diaz, who starred in the “Charlie’s Angels” films as well as countless other 1990s and early aughts classic, did admit she still loves acting. But this break has been worth it as it has allowed her to have control over her daily life, making it more manageable. Part of the change has included establishing a routine she could handle by herself. Since 2014, Diaz said she finally feels “whole.”

Her break has also coincided with hus personal shifts; in the last seven years, “The Mask” actor married musician Benji Madden and gave birth to their daughter. Family is now her first priority, and the energy she previously reserved to make a movie is now dedicated to her “little nucleus of a family.”

“Now I’m here and this is the most fulfilling thing that I’ve ever done in my life,” Diaz said in an another interview with “Yahoo Finance Presents” earlier this year. “It’s just completely the best thing. All of my energy is here.”

After giving what she described as “100%” of herself to her acting career for years, Diaz is seemingly enjoying her respite, and she has no plans to return to the industry anytime soon. It goes to show, no matter how fruitful an acting career may be, there are always going to be many other, more important things in life.
