Just two months from the release of Paramount’s “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” the studio has announced a new “Dungeons & Dragons” series that will be released on its streamer Paramount+. Roll for intelligence and find out more about the new series and the upcoming film, below.

A New “Dungeons & Dragons” Series Is In Development

As confirmed by Variety last week, Paramount+ has now given an eight-episode order to a “Dungeons & Dragons” live-action series.

A co-production between eOne and Paramount Pictures, the new series, inspired by the popular tabletop roleplaying game of the same name, has a pilot written by Rawson Marshall Thurber (“Central Intelligence,” “Red Notice”), who will also direct. Plot details are being kept under wraps.

This is now the second “Dungeons & Dragons” project in progress at Paramount, a welcome relief after years of development stagnance and following a multi-year legal battle between Warner Bros. and Hasbro in collaboration with Universal Pictures. The franchise screen rights moved to Paramount in 2017, when plans for the upcoming feature “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” were announced.

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” is due out on March 31, and per IMDb, will follow “a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers [who] embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.” Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillias, Hugh Grant, and others star.

As for the new “Dungeons & Dragons” series, it’s still in the script phase, so there are no cast members or casting directors attached to the project. However, if Paramount sticks to the same casting team across “D&D” projects, “Honor Among Thieves” CD Victoria Thomas will also head up the series.
