Wondering what you missed last week? We got the first official casting announcement for Season 2 of the hit HBO series “The White Lotus,” which was renewed back in August. Along with this exciting news, Cate Blanchett is also making headlines. She’s set to star in the first English-language feature film from Pedro Almodóvar. Here’s everything you need to know about these upcoming projects.
“The White Lotus” Announces Its Season 2 Star
It’s check-in time at “The White Lotus.” According to Deadline, “Sopranos” star Michael Imperioli has become the first confirmed cast member for Season 2 of the hit HBO dark comedy series. Imperioli joins the cast as a series regular, and will reportedly play Dominic Di Grasso, “a man traveling with his elderly father and recent college-graduate son.” The first season, which premiered last July, followed the staff and guests at the titular resort in Hawaii. Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Lacy, Fred Hechinger, Brittany O’Grady, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney, Steve Zahn, and Molly Shannon starred. Coolidge is rumored to return for the second season, though that has yet to be confirmed. Katie Doyle and Meredith Tucker are the casting director behind the Mike White series.
Cate Blanchett Teams With Pedro Almodóvar for Her Next Role
As reported by Variety, Cate Blanchett will star in Pedro Almodóvar’s first English-language feature film, “A Manual for Cleaning Women.” An adaptation of Lucia Berlin’s short story collection of the same name, “A Manual for Cleaning Women” tells dozens of stories “about women in multiple types of demanding jobs.” The project is still in the early stages of development, but a duo like Almodóvar and Blanchett will be an easy sell. According to a Variety interview, the famed filmmaker is in the process of writing the script in Spanish before translating it into English. Once it gets past the script stage, Almodóvar, Blanchett’s production company Dirty Films will produce alongside New Republic Pictures.
