Greenlit means a project is officially a go, so all you have to do is follow these leads to stay up to date. You never know where you’ll find an opportunity to land an audition!

“Moon Knight”
Finally confirming one of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood, Marvel Studios has tapped Oscar Isaac to lead the upcoming Disney+ series “Moon Knight.” Marvel announced the news via a tweet that read “‘WE ARE MOONKNIGHT’ – Oscar Isaac” with the actor in the shot. This is seven months after the initial rumor surfaced and just a couple of months after “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” star Sebastian Stan let it slip that Isaac would be starring in the series. This, however, is the first official word from the studio. The rest of the cast has yet to be announced, but Ethan Hawke has reportedly landed a major role (possibly the lead villain), and May Calamawy (“Ramy”) is also reportedly attached in an unknown role. Jeremy Slater is the head writer. The project was set to begin shooting in Hungary in March with a planned release in 2022 but a current production timeline is unclear. Marvel’s Sarah Finn is the casting director.

“The Sandman”
The cast of Netflix’s upcoming “The Sandman” series is a dream. Twelve new additions were added to the cast last week, including Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Jenna Coleman, Niamh Walsh, Joely Richardson, David Thewlis, Kyo Ra, Stephen Fry, Razane Jammal, Sandra James Young, and Patton Oswalt. They join previously announced series lead Tom Sturridge and cast members Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, and Sanjeev Bhaskar. Based on the DC comic book series by Neil Gaiman, “The Sandman” follows “the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic—and human—mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.” Gaiman will co-write with David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg with Heinberg serving as showrunner. Warner Bros. is the studio. Lucinda Syson is casting.

“Iron Mike”
Trevante Rhodes has landed his next big role. The actor will play the former heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson in the eight-part Hulu series “Iron Mike.” The limited series, which comes from “I, Tonya” screenwriter Steven Rogers and director Craig Gillespie, is expected to explore “the wild, tragic and controversial life and career of former world champion Tyson.” Margot Robbie will executive produce, and Karin Gist (“Mixed-ish”) has been set as showrunner and executive producer. Production is scheduled to begin later this year. A casting director has yet to be announced, but maybe keep an eye on “I, Tonya” casting team Betty Mae, Inc.

“13 The Musical”
Hello, “13 The Musical” and new cast member Debra Messing. The “Will & Grace” star has joined the Netflix feature adaptation of the Broadway musical, directed by Tamra Davis. Written by Jason Robert Brown, Robert Horn, and Dan Elish, the musical follows 12-year-old Evan Goldman as he moves from New York City to small-town Indiana where he grapples with his parents’ divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school. Messing will play Evan’s mom and will join the cast that includes stars Eli Golden (playing Evan), Luke Islam, JD McCrary, Nolen Dubuc, Khiyla Aynne, Lindsey Blackwell, Frankie McNellis, Ramon Reed, Aaron Simon Gross, Gabriella Uhl, Shechinah Mpumlwana, and more. Brown will compose new music for the feature with Horn adapting the script. Neil Meron will produce. Kristian Charbonier of Telsey + Company/The Telsey Office is the casting director.

“Kraven the Hunter”
The hunt is on for Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who has been tapped to headline Sony Pictures’ “Kraven the Hunter.” First introduced as a Spider-Man villain in 1964, Sergei Kravinoff, a.k.a. Kraven the Hunter is considered to be the world’s greatest hunter, but when his drive to maintain his title begins to fail, he ingests a serum that gives him super-strength, super-stamina, and slows down aging. J.C. Chandor is set to direct from a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk. This will be the third comic adaptation for Taylor-Johnson, following “Kick-Ass” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” “Kraven the Hunter” is set for release on Jan. 13, 2023.
