Last week, news broke that Rooney Mara was cast to play the iconic Audrey Hepburn in a new biopic directed by Luca Guadagnino. While the announcement is exciting for the two-time Oscar nominee, according to InStyle, many Hepburn fans were disappointed that the role didn’t go to Lily Collins. Some fans claim that Collins more closely resembles the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” star. Despite a brief Twitter uproar, the news of Mara taking on the role, as well as producing the film, is still making headlines. Here’s everything you need to know about the casting announcement and the new project.
What We Know About the New Audrey Hepburn Biopic
According to Deadline, Apple Studios is officially creating an Audrey Hepburn biopic with Mara in the lead. Mara, best known for her roles in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “Carol,” is also set to produce the film with director Luca Guadagnino (“Suspiria,” “Call Me By Your Name”). “Vinyl” executive producer Michael Mitnick is on board to write. It’s unclear at this time whether the biopic will focus on Hepburn’s whole life or a specific period of the actor’s illustrious career. A casting director has yet to be announced, but Gaudagnino usually works with Stella Savino on his projects.
