They’re gonna go the distance.
Months after it was announced that the Public Theater would stage a musical production of “Hercules” as part of its Public Works presentations, full casting has been announced.
Leading the production at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park will be “Frozen” alum Jelani Alladin in the title role, joined by Krysta Rodriguez as Meg, Roger Bart (who actually was young Hercules’ singing voice in the animated film) as Hades, Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart as Phil, Tamika Lawrence as Calliope, and others.

Per Public Works tradition, those actors will be joined by more than 200 New Yorkers from across all boroughs. Performances will run—for free—Aug. 31–Sept 8, under the direction of Lear deBessonet.
The stage adaptation will feature Alan Menken and David Zippel’s original songs from the 1997 film, as well as new material and an adapted book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Kristoffer Diaz.
