Season 3 of “Barry” is officially in the works.
The wait isn’t quite over yet for the third season of “Barry,” starring Bill Hader, but we are closer than we have been in two years! Filming for the highly anticipated third season has mostly been kept under wraps, other than a few posts by star Henry Winkler at the start of filming. On Aug. 2, the veteran actor, who plays acting teacher Gene Cousineau in the series, marked day one with a Twitter post for a new Cousineau production of “The Elephant Man.” Shortly following that, EW we got a first look at Winkler and Hader on set together for the first time in too many months.
What we know about Season 3 (and 4!):
Production was about to begin on Season 3 in early 2020 but was shut down due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The hiatus hasn’t exactly been downtime for Hader and co-creator Alex Burg, though. According to Collider, Hader revealed during an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that not only is Season 3 completely done and ready to go, but so is Season 4, which hasn’t technically been ordered yet. But while we know very little about what is going on behind the scenes for Season 3, a filming sign has recently popped up in Torrance on the Pacific Coast Highway, per Twitter, during the final weeks of September for “a motorcycle chase scene with gunfire.” The hit HBO series follows Hader’s titular Barry Berkman, a hitman attempting to start a new life as an actor, but Season 2 ended back in May 2019 with Barry going on a killing spree in an attempt to track down his former mentor, Fuches. The series also stars Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, Winkler, and more. Bialy/Thomas & Associates is the casting team behind the series— learn what makes “Barry” one of the best acting ensembles on TV here at Backstage!
