Last week news broke that Netflix nabbed the rights to the “definitive bio-series” on Frank Sinatra, which will have Bill Condon as a showrunner. Along with this project, the highly anticipated “Avatar: The Last Airbender” live-action series has added several new cast members, including the actor playing Suki and more.
Netflix’s Upcoming Frank Sinatra Bio-series Is Officially a Go.
First reported by Deadline, Netflix has secured the rights for a new drama bio-series about Frank Sinatra. Bill Condon (“Gods and Monsters,” “Chicago,” the upcoming “Guys and Dolls”) will serve as showrunner and write and direct the pilot for the series, which is being described as “the definitive bio-series on the iconic singer, actor, producer and quintessential celebrity of 20th Century America.” Lionsgate Television, Universal Music Group’s Polygram Entertainment, and Frank Sinatra Enterprises will all serve as producers, and Frank’s daughter, Tina Sinatra, will executive produce. This seems to be the consolation for what had been a Martin Scorsese biopic in the works that never made it off the ground due to “objections from the Sinatra family.” No casting has been announced at this time.
